Week 5, 07/14/2024, Genomics, Purdue

After what seems to be a week of just letting Galaxy run its course and praying to the universe it works (get it?), I had the chance to sleep in this morning. I woke up at 9 this morning (still far too early) expecting to see everyone already up. But I turned out to be completely wrong; the hall was dead silent.

Today we had an extended perimeter, and I was looking forward to finally enjoying some good food. However, before we could set foot outside, it began to rain cats and dogs. Having our laptops and taking advantage of the predicament, we decided to work on problem sets. I also managed to finish Lessons in Chemistry. Highly recommend!

Eventually, the storm passed and we made our way to Raising Canes where I ate three whole chicken fingers! We also got some boba (I got matcha with brown sugar boba) before heading back to the dorms for a well-deserved nap!

My dinner consisted of boneless chicken wings and a salad. I ate very little in preparation for the mandatory fun night. After dinner, I scrambled to create my gene candidate list (which I luckily finished) before heading off to ABE for tonight’s ‘mandatory fun’– which was Just Dance. I proved to be a better dancer than I anticipated, and everybody had a lot of fun jamming out to songs like Rasputin, Bad Romance, Ghostbusters, and Baby One More Time. We rewarded ourselves with Buldak Ramen and another round of dancing before calling it a night. Check out our moves below! – Vinson

Dance Along! (WARNING VERY HARD)
