The water has been tasting a little different lately. It’s got that West Lafayette essence. Do you know what reminds me of West Lafayette? The best cohort in SSP: Purdue 2. The friends I have made, the struggles we have pushed through, and the bird calls I have attempted will be etched in my memories forever. Hi! My name is Riya and today is my birthday! I woke up at the crack of dawn: the roosters were roostering, the corn was corning, the fog was fogging, and the donuts were donutting. We started the day off by running our inhibitor assays for our ten inhibitors. During lab, we had a dance session with our favorite throwbacks. Here’s our lab dancing to Gangnam Style.
After finally getting our z-scores for our controls, I ate my lunch at Au Bon Pain with my friends. We returned to lecture at the Pharmacy Building to learn about x-ray crystallography. Dr. Keithly introduced a very compelling form of imaging: Cryo-Em, which achieves atomic and 3D levels of resolution, and the content was very interesting to me.

After lecture, we returned to lab and completed our inhibitor assays, but my birthday wishes did not do enough justice because our absorption values became negative after removing our blanks. Whoops. Dinner came fast because we were having so much fun! I got my Riya Special™: jasmine rice, bok choy, fried green beans, and the daily pizza. I also learned some valuable lessons from my dinner table: red velvet cake is just red food coloring in chocolate cake. Did you know that different M&M colors actually taste different? Sorry to burst your bubble guys. Also, the midterm winners for the question of the day were announced! Woo Arlene, Jennifer, and Nick!!!

At 7:45 I got my favorite kind of cake: the Nothing Bundt Cakes © Chocolate Chip cake. After the scrumptious cake, we ended the day on Kick the Can and Capture the Flag. The water still tastes different but I am kind of getting used to it.
